Hong Kong's statutory paid paternity leave will increase to five days from three under the Employment (Amendment) Bill 2018 (Mercer Select Intelligence, 4 Sep 2018), which could take effect in February 2019. Entitlement to the leave will be subject to meeting certain eligibility criteria, and it will be restricted to fathers whose children are born on or after the act's effective date. Only one period of paternity leave will be allowed in the case of multiple births. Hong Kong introduced the three days' paternity leave entitlement in February 2015.
