Mercer Marsh Benefits (MMB), a partnership between global professional services firms, Mercer and Marsh, announced that its new Mercer Benefits Asia app, which is an extension of their benefits administration, will be used to test how their clients can support promoting a healthy workforce.
The Mercer Benefits Asia app will integrate BerryQ, which offers prizes for taking a health challenge to complete short and informative health quizzes on nutrition (https://quiz.berryq.com/quizzes.html). This challenge is specially curated around the topic of nutrition, ranging from distinguishing good and bad carbs to hydration basics and superfoods.
Beyond the nutrition challenge, BerryQ also offers interactive quizzes and assessments on a multitude of topics such as workplace wellness, wealth, fitness, diseases, aging and coping with stress. BerryQ was designed by LumenLab, MetLife’s Innovation Centre based in Singapore.
“We are pleased to collaborate with LumenLab to offer this time saving and eco-friendly development for both members and their employees in Asia, said Sophia Van Principal, Chief Technology Officer at Mercer Marsh Benefits. “This is one of our efforts to transform employee benefits towards preventive care with the initial step being to raise health awareness and knowledge. The quizzes will help educate employees about making healthy choices in food and lifestyle in return for a reward to encourage participation.”
The Mercer Benefits Asia app reflects Mercer’s dedication towards digital transformation and enhancing user experience; allowing employees to go paperless and easily track their flex spending accounts. Additionally employers will be able to effectively disseminate mass notifications, such as emergency alerts, which employees can receive instantly on their mobile devices.
In this spirit Mercer has also developed an internal chatbot, Jenneke, to assist their client serving teams in helping users with benefits administration queries. The Jenneke chatbot has been shortlisted for a Fintech award by the Monetary Authority of Singapore.
“This is a step towards transforming the HR back office into a digital organization. In our 2017 Talent Trends Future of Work study, we found that fewer than 10% of companies consider themselves digital organizations. Companies that have begun their journeys tend to focus on the customer and suppliers first and the employee secondarily,” Sophia added.
Mercer will continue to look to use their technology to partner with other providers to promote a healthy workforce over time.
